SUNNY AND 75
Today, the birds really do have a song to sing. Spring has sprung. And, what joy it is to bask in her glory. Spring really does something good for the soul.
To me, it’s kind of like the earth is renewing herself. Adorned with fresh blooms and lush green grass and a million rays of sunshine per square inch, Mother Earth puts on her finest before she strips back down for summer. And, with the earth’s renewal, I find myself feeling renewed, too.
Lamentations 3:23 reads “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” When I read this verse, I always picture Spring. It’s kind of like, yesterday we were in an ice storm with no way out, but, today, it’s sunny and 75 with not a single cloud in the sky. What a beautiful thing that God gives us, not only in the form of Spring, but in this scripture. God is our “sunny and 75” after an ice storm.
Though we know He offers us new mercies, we sometimes cannot conceive of them because we’re stuck in the ice storm with no hope of sunshine. I must remind myself of this each time I hear a bird chirp or see a bloom open. It’s an offering to us. One of renewal, hope and new beginnings. And, while it’s analogous to my favorite season, it’s also truth.
Isn’t that fabulous? I mean, FABULOUS! Today’s blog is short and sweet, but, friend, it’s packed with a truthful punch. My prayer is that spring finds you in your rightful place. Not stuck in yesterday’s ice storm but basking in the new mercies this season brings. Today, embrace it. Take it in. Skate out of the ice storm, and step into a “sunny and 75” state of mind.
Stay Divine,
