My Kind of Barbie
OH MY STARS, what a week! Friends, I’m so sorry that I’m a day late and a dollar short on my delivery of our Divine By Design blog, but, whew, it’s been very, very busy over here for JL PARISH. With that said, I’m going to keep it short and sweet which is almost impossible for this long winded, country girl. You know, every syllable in “east texan” is like, well, an entire word long.
Each morning, I sit at my desk with the sun coming through the window, a warm cup of tea in my hand and a genuine excitement for what the day holds. I log onto my computer and check my email, Facebook, etc. And, in some weird way, all of that somewhat anti-social social stuff kick starts my day. But, today, like many other days, I’m graced with the sound of five year old voices telling their Mommy just how much they love her.
My neighbors, Barbie and Jason, are parents to three, fall out of your chair, precious triplets. They are rock star parents. In a day and age of people (like me, #humbled), who are starting their days off with email and Facebook, they are putting themselves totally aside to rally, encourage and love their kiddos well until they are dropped off at school.
Just last week, Barbie, “Mom” to the triplets, said to me, “You know, Jill, my house is a total disaster. I mean, if you walked in you would ask me who broke in and why didn’t they take anything. The truth is, all I want to do is play with my kids.” With a million “honey do’s” resting upon her conscience, she prioritizes. And, her priority (as well as her husbands) shines brightly through the way her kiddos love her (and, their Dad, too).
Life is too darn short to not say “I love you’s.” It’s too darn short to make a squeaky clean house a priority when enjoying life should be the priority. And, quite frankly, it’s way, way, way too short to say or do anything to negate from the present. Life is to be lived and every moment is to be savored.
I hope you’ll find time this week to tell someone you love them or play more in your own life or spend more time pouring into things that will outlast you. Never forget that you were made to shine. And, that light of yours enables others to do the same. So, be you, ever so luminous, you!
Stay Divine,
JL PARISH
